63rd Annual Calhoun County Wood Festival Grand Parade

2025 Parade Marshals

Larry and Vickie Baker

Both Larry and Vickie Baker were honored to be asked to participate as Parade Marshals for the 2025 Wood Festival celebration.  They appreciate the number of volunteers and hard work required to accomplish this yearly celebration.  The Wood Festival is a great family event and they invite everyone within and outside of Calhoun County to attend.

Vickie is a 1986 graduate and Valedictorian of Calhoun County High School and their son, William Baker, is a 2015 graduate and Salutatorian of Calhoun County Middle/High School.  The couple had returned to Calhoun County when the then new Calhoun County Middle/High School was completed.  “It seems like yesterday” says Vickie.

Vickie was a teacher and Larry was a technologist in Calhoun County Schools.  Larry moved from Calhoun County Schools to an administrative position at Glenville State University and is now a Professor of Physical Science working in the GSU Education Department.  Vickie moved from Calhoun County Schools to work at the West Virginia Department of Education as the NAEP Coordinator for the state.  They reside at Russet right outside of Grantsville and enjoy the country life in Calhoun County.

They have both been active volunteers in Calhoun County over the years.  Boy Scouts, Middle School Basketball, Track, Cross Country, Lions Club, MHHC Board, LSIC, Gideons, and the Historical Society to name a few.  “We are truly blessed to live here with family and friends.  A place where we have such events as the Calhoun County Wood Festival that allows us to gather, laugh and remember ”  said Larry and Vickie.Type your paragraph here.
